Branded Arts Culver City Mural Complex opens this Saturday, November 10th @ 1:00 pm - 1:00 am. Contemporary artist Sona Mirzaei will be one of the featured artists.

There’s a new arts complex in Culver City…Warren Brand opens the Branded Arts Culver City Mural Complex this Saturday, November 10th. The new arts center will show works by artists such as Dabs Myla, Anthony Lister, Miss Van Dan Quintana, David Flores, Luke Chueh, RIME, Mear One, Heracut, just to name a few. The show will also include private collection works by Bansky, Nick Walker, Shepard Fairey, Mark Ryden and more!

Contemporary artist Sona Mirzaei will be one of the featured artists in this premiere event and gallery opening of the new 25,000 square foot Branded Arts Culver City Mural Complex. The group exhibition, the Branded Arts Block Party will take place on Saturday, November 10th @ 1:00 pm - 1:00 am.

The event will feature art, live music and painting. Curated by Branded Arts, this eclectic art show will exhibit some of the most prolific artists of our time alongside never before seen work from some of LA’s rising stars.

Sona Mirzaei began showcasing in Branded events about three years ago after being introduced to Warren Brand by a mutual friend. "I love Warren's approach to being involved in the art community by supporting local artists, collecting, as well as wanting to ensure kids locally have an opportunity to be exposed to the art world at an early age, is a great thing. Whether these children’s participation is through Witness to a Dream or the Boys & Girls Club of America it impacts their lives daily and it is through Branded Arts that this is possible. I am happy to be involved in any way, especially since it is connected with art - my greatest passion. There is no better way of connecting with people regardless of age or gender than spreading the awareness of creative appreciation!” says Sona.

She continues, "It is an honor to be included in such an incredible line up of the world's best emerging and established artists, of celebrating art.” Sona is currently working on her new collection "My Thirteen Commandments," as well as new works for her In Search of Splendor collection. Her next solo show will be at Seyhoun Gallery in spring of 2013.

In addition to her other upcoming projects, Wallspace LA Gallery will be featuring her self-styled Thirteen Commandments; inspired by the traditional Ten Commandments. This endeavor focuses on Sona’s perception of life, faith, and humanity. Are the Ten Commandments truly the most relevant set of core principles for a 21st century society? She has envisioned a pop art, conceptual, collage, mixed media fusion of what she believes would be a more practical list of commandments for the world of today. The exhibition will also feature appropriately dramatic installations of Mount Sinai and the Tree of Knowledge to complete this epic, biblical, artistic, fanciful adventure of Sona’s.

The gala opening of the Branded Arts Culver City Mural Complex is on Saturday, November 10th, 1:00 pm - 1:00 am. 8810 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232. For more info visit www.brandedarts.com - to learn more about contemporary artist Sona Mirzaei visit www.sonamirzaei.com

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

As I understand it, fracking wells "dry up" fairly quickly, which is why pressure to keepRead More drilling so urgent. Where do the jobs go after a year or so? Just a thought....

Steve Rose writes "I'm a responsible car driver and I look for the same from bike riders."Read More However I challenge him to spend his next long drive staying at exactly the posted speed limit. I tried this once driving from the Long Beach Airport to Irvine. And I was astounded at how slow this felt. I also noticed that in all contexts (Freeway, Arterial, and local road) I was the only one doing so. I didn't pass or pace a single other car for the full 30 minutes. So somehow I doubt that although he may be "responsible" driving he is a fully law-abiding driver.

(....continued) Mr. Rose, your heart might have been in the right place, but you asked the wrongRead More questions and alienated bike riders in the process. More important, the approach was simply confrontational and not reflective of the changing perspective (read: progress) of the broader city on bicycle riding nor of the amazing new life blood of the those who are revitalizing the very Culver City you love and have worked so very hard for. Again, I urge you to apologize (not clarify) and perhaps come speak to some bike commuters/riders and join us in making Culver City's road's, less territorial and safer...
