Passion for Health

I love remembering all the little expressions of my parents. Many reflecting the times, or our heritage or the particular personality or quirks of that parent. In the case of my mother, quirkiness is an understatement. But amongst her many so-called wisdoms was the repeated, “if you have your health, you have everything.” Made no sense as a child but by the time I was 20 and had a serious health scare, her words took on new meaning.

So is it any wonder that I “accidentally” became a provider of health care?

I came to California from NY in the mid- seventies, prepared to establish residency and attend UCLA to obtain my masters in dance therapy. Somewhere along the way, I grabbed the opportunity to become a Women’s Health Care Specialist which led to my Physician Assistant PA) license, a master’s in public health and a certification as a sex counselor.

 How fortunate it is for those of us who are passionate about what we call our “work” – a bit of a misnomer. And that very coupling of passion and profession leads to one of the key ingredients of health – the topic of my Culver City Patch blog.

My goal is to present accurate, timely, health information and discussion that is significant to your daily lives and medical and lifestyle choices. General topics of interest.....reproductive health, menopause, hormones, sexuality, healthy lifestyles, discussion of studies and topics highlighted in the news. Suggestions, controversies, ideas are welcome.
