'We Tell Stories Plays' - Reading is So Delicious - "I'm Gonna Eatcha"

Summer Reading Program ends with the magical interactive folklore and multicultural story-based plays of "We Tell Stories." Children are chosen from the audience to dress up and participate in the plays. The performances of "We Tell Stories" will take place every Wednesday at 2pm from June 29th through August 7th with a different food-related theme each week. The August 7th final program is entitled "I'm Gonna Eatcha" and features fun stories about outsmarting the predator. The plays which will be performed are: "The Lion in the Well" (Africa); "The Stone Troll" by J.R.R. Tolkien; "Coyote and Rabbit" (Native American); and "The Cat Who Became a Poet" by Margaret Mahy. These performances are made possible in part by a Culver City Art in Public Places Program Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. There is no registration required to attend.

On August 7th, following the "We Tell Stories" performances, for those who participated in the reading games, reading certificates will be distributed and grand prizes awarded. Grand prizes donated by the Culver Westside Dental Group will consist of one bicycle for the in-house children's reading game (for children age 5 -12) and a special grand prize for a participant in the Online Teen Reading Game. There will also be a book giveaway for all attendees.
