Maya Needs a Service Dog! Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

The community is invited to a Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle fundraiser for Linwood E. Howe 5th grader and Special Olympics gymnast, Maya Shulman.

10 year old Maya has an intellectual disability due to prenatal alcohol exposure.  She was adopted as an infant and her family has been dealing with her cognitive and mental healthy challenges ever since.  Maya has great difficulty navigating the world due to significant anxiety and limited safety awareness.  Maya has been approved for a service dog.  Service dogs cannot be purchased.  Families are required to raise funds for 4 Paws for Ability, the non-profit agency that will train a service dog for Maya.  Each dollar raised is a point earned towards their 13,000 point requirement.  The dog will be trained for Maya's special needs, specifically to help curb her impulsive behaviors, help with her anxiety and assist her personal safety.  Helping Maya will greatly benefit her entire family.

You can help Maya get her service dog by attending the fundraising dinner on Sunday, December 8th at Grace Lutheran Church, 4427 Overland Ave, Culver City.  Suggested donation is $10 per adult or $5 per child.  Raffle tickets, boutique items and crafts will be available for an additional cost.  You can also help by making a tax-deductible donation in honor of Maya Shulman through Paws 4 Ability at 4PawsforAbility.org

For more information, please contact Maya's mother Rosemary at:  ARoe8@sbcglobal.net
