The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra concert features the world premier of Orbit: A Symphonic Fantasy to honor the space shuttle Endeavour and the spirit of all past and future explorers. Also on the program: Johannes Brahm's Symphony No. 1 in C minor and Antonin Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, Opus 46.
LADSO was founded in 1953 to enrich communities through the healing power of music. Guest Conductor David Weiss was Principal Oboe of the LA Philharmonic for more than 30 years. Karim Elmahmoudi,award winning composer of Orbit, is composer-in-residence for the orchestra.
The free concert will be held in Veterans Memorial Auditorium and has been made possible in part by the Culver City Performing Arts Grant Program with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Auditorium which has recently been renovated is the centerpiece of the Veterans Memorial complex in Culver City.
