Celebrate the season of goodwill at the annual Downtown Culver City Lighting of the Holiday Tree Ceremony, presented by the Downtown Business Association and the City of Culver City.

See Santa Claus as he makes a very special visit all the way from the North Pole. There will be hot cider, hot cocoa and festive treats to make everyone feel merry, plus performances by local choirs and appearances by the Mayor and city council members. Culver City makes this holiday celebration “green” and energy efficient, lighting a 22-foot artificial tree with LED lights. Stay afterwards for a spin on the outdoor Holiday Ice Rink and dinner at one of Downtown Culver City’s many restaurants, or take a stroll down the boulevards. Culver City’s downtown area is Southern California’s best kept secret, featuring a wonderful mix of historic buildings, boutiques, theaters, galleries, and unique restaurants opening on to tree-lined streets. Parking is free in municipal structures for up to two hours, or valet parking is available at three convenient Downtown locations. Thursday, December 6; Downtown Culver City in Town Plaza at the intersection of Culver Blvd. and Van Buren Pl., (Next to Culver Hotel & Pacific Theatres); Free; www.downtownculvercity.com or www.culvercity.org

This is a clear warning about what will happen to our aging water and sewer infrastructure, if theRead More city allows frackers to drill under our homes. The city of Westminster in OC last week denied a drilling permit for exactly this reason. It's time for citizens to let their council members know their thoughts on this topic. Council is concerned about a lawsuit if they stop fracking. The cost of a lawsuit pales next to the cost of replacing our infrastructure. Paid by taxpayers. Thus far frackers have never operated in such a densely populated area. In rural areas, there isn't nearly as much infrastructure.

Of course it's a warning our infrastructure is over 90 years old. Fracking or not it's breakingRead More down.
