More than 90 percent of deaf children are born to hearing parents. The Deaf Education And Families Project (DEAF Project), a CSUN-based non-profit, will host a full-day retreat for families raising deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Workshops include a "For Dads/By Dads" session highlighting the importance of fathers in the lives of their DHH kids; becoming an empowered advocate for your child; fostering solid relationships between deaf and hearing family members; the importance of multilingualism; family team-building; and more! Supervised children's activities will keep kids occupied while parents attend workshops. Catered lunch included. Only $25 for a family of four. Pre-registration required. Workshops presented in spoken English, spoken Spanish and American Sign Language. This event will be held at Marlton School for the Deaf in Los Angeles.
