Vote for Your Favorite Square Mile

Patch readers are invited to help select the section of Culver City they believe would make the best subject for an innovative reporting project in collaboration with USC.

Reporters from the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism have scoured Culver City in an effort to find the best square mile of our town to report upon. Be prepared for a semester of comprehensive stories told through audio, print, slideshows and blogs about politics, arts, culture, crime, oral history, migration, hopes and dreams--and much more.

Need a recap of the choices? They are as follows:

Waterloo & City: The brand-new restaurant on West Washington Boulevard poses a stark difference from its neighbors, characterized by mom and pop businesses, auto repair shops and an aura of redevelopment.

Westfield Culver City: This square mile boasts a mall that recently underwent a massive facelift, multiple Culver City schools and a celebrity cemetery.

Tito's Tacos: A mosque, a chocolate factory and an antique gun shop mark the cityscape surrounding this culinary landmark.

The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook: A lung-busting workout, a peek at the studio where Gone With the Wind was filmed and lunch at a French bistro—as well as a business community in transition, erratic parking meters and sluggish traffic—are all on offer in this square mile.

Veteran's Park: This park sits in the middle of a hidden tension between the new developments and the older residential neighborhoods.
