Two Storms to Hit This Week

Between half an inch and a full inch of rain is likely as storms roll into the Southland Tuesday afternoon. They'll linger through Saturday.

A pair of winter storms are predicted to hit the Southland Wednesday and Friday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Today, however, will stay warm and dry.

"A low pressure system will develop Tuesday and will bring cooler weather to the area Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday," forecasters said. "Then another storm will likely bring additional precipitation and gusty winds Thursday afternoon through Saturday."

Between half an inch and a full inch of rain is likely in the coastal plains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from each storm. Snow is also in the mountains, but snow amounts have not yet been fixed in any NWS predictions from the Oxnard forecast office.

The storms are predicted to be stronger to the south of Los Angeles, and about twice as much rain is forecast for Orange and San Diego counties' coastal strip. Snow down to the 5,500-foot elevation is predicted as cold air moves in late Wednesday to the inland mountains near Idyllwild, Palomar Mountain and Alpine.
