Thousands Descend on Culver City Hub as Part of CicLAvia [VIDEO/PHOTOS]

Culver City was a major destination for scores of CicLAvia participants, Sunday. Share your thoughts and upload your photos from the day, here.

They descended in their thousands along Venice Boulevard on a perfectly sunny L.A. day – the cyclists, walkers, skateboarders, scooter riders and stroller pushers – as part of the 6th annual CicLAvia event, and the first that went all the way from downtown Los Angeles to the sea.

Some cycled and walked with their dogs, while others brought their young kids along, pedaling furiously alongside their owners. And thousands of them stopped and discovered Culver City at the CicLAvia hub at Main Street and Venice Boulevard, where a huge rainbow of yellow and blue balloons welcomed attendees to downtown Culver City.

The local restaurants were packed with patrons and there was plenty of entertainment and interesting booths to scour including information from Ballona Creek Renaissance.

By 11:30 a.m. the queue for free valet bike parking at Parcel B was already three-deep. Culver Hotel Manager Seth Horowitz told Patch the hotel was offering free water to anyone who needed a top up for their water bottles as temperatures climbed into the 70s.

Chubby Beach Cruisers was also doing a roaring trade checking people’s bicycles and pumping deflated tires, while smiling volunteers ran down Venice Boulevard offering free Chap Stick to participants.
