The President Has Landed

Stay away from Cheviot Hills, Westwood and Beverly Hills this evening, as President Barack Obama makes his way to two fundraisers tonight.

Air Force One flew into LAX at around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. The Los Angeles Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the 405 Freeway, Wilshire Boulevard and other nearby streets until approximatley 5 p.m.

Additionally, drivers are asked to stay away from West Los Angeles, Westwood and Beverly Hills between 5:30-7:30 p.m. and 8:30-10 p.m. Wednesday.

Totaltrafficla.com is reporting that it is likely the President will be flown by helicopter to the Rancho Park area and will then be driven to Beverly Hills.

Obama is scheduled to speak at an LGBT fundraising event at The Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel at 7:15 p.m., after which he will attend a fundraising dinner at the home of Glee creator Ryan Murphy. He is scheduled to arrive there at 8:55 p.m. Tickets are selling for $40,000 per couple, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Glee star Darren Criss will provide musical entertainment at the LGBT fundraiser. Criss is a last-minute replacement for the previously announced performer, Pink, who canceled last week when she was hospitalized with stomach flu.

Despite the venue change, the event is sold out. Tickets were priced at $1,250 per person for general admission, $2,500 per person for preferred seating, $10,000 per person for a photo with Obama plus preferred seating, $25,000 per couple for inclusion in the program, photo reception and preferred seating.

The President's overnight plans have not been announced. On recent fundraising trips to L.A., Obama has stayed at the Beverly Wilshire and the Beverly Hilton. He is scheduled to attend another fundraiser Thursday morning near Baldwin Hills.
