Semi-Truck Fire Shuts Down Southbound 405 Freeway

Hazmat crews help clean up spilled diesel fuel, and the scene is declared safe at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A semi-truck fire shut down all southbound lanes and one northbound lane of the 405 freeway at about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday. California Highway Patrol units and the Los Angeles City Fire Department were called to the scene near the southbound Mulholland Drive exit.

According to CHP reports, the truck's engine did not explode, but it was completely destroyed. 

CHP reported lanes were blocked as firefighters pulled hoses across the freeway to put out the blaze.

Hazmat teams were called to the scene to help clean up diesel fuel. 

The northbound lane reopened just before 2 p.m. Officials declared the scene safe just before 3:30 p.m. 

No injuries were reported.
