Resident Spotlight: Rocio Renteria

What's on your mind, Culver City?

Name: Rocio Renteria

Occupation: Caregiver, Social Services located in Mar Vista and a proud parent of Culver City Unified School District kids.

How long have you lived in Culver City? My house is outside of the border, but my kids go to Linwood E. Howe Elementary School and I practically live here; all of my ties are here.

What is the city's most important issue? I love Culver City, but the recent teacher dismissing and the larger class sizes are unfortunate. With the Los Angeles Unified School District, I was used to this kind of thing, but I didn't expect those things to start happening here. It's OK though, because it has given me an opportunity to get more involved now.

What would you change about Culver City if you could? It would be nice if Culver City would accept people in the district as residents for certain community available programs. For example, if your child goes to a Culver City school, but you currently live elsewhere, and want to enroll your child in summer school, you have to pay a non-resident rate. The same goes for the Senior Center.

Where's your favorite place in town to eat, shop or relax? Los Tacos on Washington and Sepulveda.  Why? Really good tacos!

Describe Culver City in three words. I love it (so much).
