Pretrial For Double Homicide Suspect Set for July 27

Zackariah Lehnen is charged with murdering Lucien Bergez and Santa Monica resident Erica Escobar in Bergez's Culver City home in May 2011.

The case against Zackariah Timothy Lehnen will proceed with a pretrial July 27, a judge ordered Friday morning.

Lehnen—a 31-year-old transient—has pled not guilty to fatally stabbing and beating Lucien Bergez, 89 and Erica Escobar, 27.

The pair were found in Bergez's Culver City home in the 4000 block of Huron Avenue May 3, 2011. Escobar was a resident of Santa Monica.

If found guilty, Lehnen could face the death penalty.

He was ordered May 18 to stand trial. Multiple charges against him include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder during the course of a robbery.
