Overland Cafe: Champagne Brunch and Morning Specials
At this local spot, you can get weekday breakfast specials for less than five bucks.
Overland Café is located in the Palms neighborhood and is well-known for its unlimited champagne brunch on the weekends. However, I recently discovered another great deal there: weekday breakfasts for less than $5, from 7 a.m.
Between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. you can order two eggs (any style), two pancakes or two French toast halves and two pieces of bacon or sausage links for only $4.49. If you want to substitute a chicken or vegetarian sausage pattie it'll cost you 50 cents more.
Of course, there are many other breakfast items on the menu, such as omelets, eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros and Norweigan smoked salmon. When not ordering a breakfast special, I usually order the eggs Florentine with a vegetarian sausage pattie, served on two English muffin halves and topped with Hollandaise sauce. The eggs are poached just right and the spinach is a nice contrast to the richness of the yolks. The dish comes with a side of crispy breakfast potatoes.

Recently, my kids ordered two of the breakfast specials. My daughter had the pancakes, fried eggs and vegetarian sausage. She said the pancakes were fluffy and she liked her fried eggs being slightly browned. The French toast also got a thumbs up.
If you're hungry, order the breakfast burrito with Cuban black beans, scrambled eggs, potatoes and onions in a flour tortilla covered with cheddar cheese and garnished with salsa and sour cream. It's tasty and satisfying.

I’ve yet to have lunch or dinner at Overland Café, but this neighborhood joint has plenty of meals to offer throughout the day and evening.
Champagne Brunch – all the champagne you can drink for only $4.99 per person with the purchase of an entrée from 8a.m. - 4 p.m. on the weekends.
Happy hour daily from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Beer and house wine $2.50. All appetizers are only $5 each.
