Ongoing Construction Near Culver City Expo Station

The Expo line to Culver City may be opening on Wednesday, but ongoing construction work on streets and roads continues in and around the area.

Metro is continuing with construction in and around the Expo Line in Culver City. The latest in a series of tasks requires relocating an existing sewer line. The work began on June 18  and will continue through Sep. 21.

During this period, construction will take place near the intersection of Venice and Robertson boulevards, according to a Metro release.

Workers will be busy between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12 a.m. through 5 a.m. on Fridays. No work will take place on weekends. However, during the above times people should be aware of the following:

  • Traffic will be impacted on Venice Boulevard between Durango Avenue and Ivy Street.
  • Westbound traffic on Venice Boulevard will be reduced to one lane between Curtis Avenue and Culver Boulevard.
  • Eastbound traffic on Venice Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes between Curtis Avenue and Robertson Boulevard.
  • On northbound Robertson Boulevard, left turns will be prohibited onto Venice Boulevard.
  • On southbound Robertson Boulevard right turns will be prohibited onto Venice Boulevard.
  • On eastbound Venice Boulevard, left turns onto Robertson Boulevard will be prohibited.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained on the south side of Venice Boulevard.
  • Pedestrian traffic on the north side of Venice Boulevard will be re-directed to the south side of Venice Boulevard between Robertson and Culver boulevards.
  • Electronic message boards and directional signage will be used to safely direct drivers and pedestrians around the construction zones.
  • Local access to all businesses will be maintained.

In addition, Metro is warning drivers that steel plates will be used to maintain traffic during the day and parking and "no stopping anytime" restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times.
