Metro to Run Free Shuttle from Culver City Station to Santa Monica For Sunday’s Marathon

Metro will operate a free non-stop shuttle service from Culver City’s Expo Line Station to Olympic Boulevard/11th Street in Santa Monica during this Sunday’s marathon as an alternative option for those traveling from downtown to the beach.

The shuttles will run every 15 minutes from approximately 5 a.m. until the race ends.

In addition to the shuttle, Metro will include nine rail stops along the 26-mile race course that will start at Dodger Stadium and make its way through downtown Los Angeles, Echo Park, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City and West L.A. before ending at the Santa Monica Pier.

According to Metro the best stations to see the racers from Chinatown Station, Union Station, Little Tokyo/Arts District Station, Civic Center Station, Vermont/Santa Monica Station, Vermont/Sunset Station, Hollywood/Western Station, Hollywood/Vine Station and Hollywood/Highland Station.

Metro will also add more trains to meet rider demands and suggest load a TAP card with cash or purchasing a $5 day pass in advance, to avoid long lines at the ticket vending machines.

Detoured Bus Routes

Metro will detour 51 Metro Bus lines around the racecourse. The service changes will occur between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. The following lines will be affected:

2, 4, 10, 14, 16, 20, 26, 28, 30, 33, 40, 45, 48, 55, 60, 68, 70/71, 76, 78/79, 81, 83, 84, 90, 92, 94, 96, 105, 156, 180/181, 200, 201, 204, 206, 207, 210, 212, 217, 222, 445, 485, 487, 534, 550, 704, 720, 733, 745, 754, 757, 780, 794.

Regular service on some bus lines will be restored as the race progresses, but full service on all lines is not expected to resume until the early evening. Riders are advised to plan ahead and adjust their travel times.
