Intermittent Venice, Robertson & Culver Boulevard Closures Around Culver City

As part of the Metro Expo Line construction, crews will begin pile and column installations for the Venice Boulevard Bridge from April 21 through May 21.

Intermittent Closures of Venice Boulevard for pile and column installation for the Venice Boulevard Bridge as part of Metro's Expo Line construction will cause delays and disruptions in and around Culver City from April 21 through May 21.

Construction will take place on Venice Boulevard, west of Robertson Boulevard during the following hours:

Sunday to Thursday:  9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Friday:  12 a.m. (Midnight)  - 8 a.m.

During this time, work crews will be drilling, setting and forming column foundations for the Venice Boulevard Bridge. Overnight, intermittent closures of eastbound and westbound Venice Boulevard, between Culver and Robertson boulevards will be required.  Closures will not be implemented concurrently.

Traffic Impacts During Closures of Eastbound Venice Boulevard:

  • Eastbound Venice Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Culver Boulevard to Robertson Boulevard, and traffic will be detoured at Bagley Avenue/Main Street or Culver Boulevard.
  • Right turns from Culver Boulevard to eastbound Venice Boulevard will be prohibited, and traffic will be detoured to Washington Boulevard at Ince Boulevard.
  • Eastbound Venice Boulevard between Watseka Avenue and Culver Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of traffic.                                                                 

 

Traffic Impacts During Closures of Westbound Venice Boulevard:

  • Westbound Venice Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Robertson Boulevard to Culver Boulevard, and traffic will be detoured at National Boulevard.
  • Right turns from the eastbound I-10 Freeway Robertson Boulevard off ramp onto westbound Venice Boulevard will be prohibited.
  • Left turns from northbound Robertson Boulevard to westbound Venice Boulevard will be prohibited.
  • Westbound Venice Boulevard between Ellis Avenue and Robertson Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of traffic.

 

Advisories: 

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times or via designated walkway installed by the contractor.
  • Noise levels will be monitored to ensure compliance and the work area will be watered down to minimize dust.
  • Parking and “No Stopping Anytime” restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times. 
  • Local access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Directional signage and electronic message boards will advise of the detours during the closures
  • Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.
