High Surf and Strong Winds Hitting the Coast

Wind gusts will be powerful enough to down trees and power lines.

Wave sets could reach 11 feet along west and northwest facing beaches and a high surf advisory is in effect until Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The high surf will cause some rip currents, and swimmers and surfers should use caution. Much of the Southern California coast will also see very strong, gale force winds that could reach 80 mph with possible gusts in the L.A. mountains of 100 mph.

Winds will be strong enough to down power lines, trees and large tree limbs and will cause dangerous cross winds on the road for high-profile vehicles.
