Fun-Filled Options for Labor Day Weekend

From circus shows to jazz extravaganzas, even staying at home can be a vacation this weekend.

Staying put in Culver City and simply can't figure out what to do for the weekend? Local restaurants and shopping centers alike are banking on that. Make instant plans with several food, activity and entertainment options for an adults' night out or something for the whole family.

Hit a high note with jazz performances

1) Friday night at the Radisson Hotel with the George Kahn Quintet

The George Kahn Quintet boasts a hefty resume, including playing music for Lost and scoring an Oscar or two for some of their scores. Eager to ask a few questions? Be sure to talk to bass player Karl Vincent, if you can catch him between performances. The George Kahn Quintet roster: George Kahn, Karl Vincent, MB Gordy, Larry Kilmas and John Fumo.

2) Sunday night at Industry Cafe and jazz with Jay Jackson & the William Herrington Trio

You may not have heard of Jay Jackson, but the jazz community knows him well. He is an artist who has appeared on multiple TV shows including Parks and Recreation, Dexter, The Mentalist and The Closer.  

What: Live jazz with Jay Jackson & the William Herrington Trio
When: Sunday at 7 p.m.

See the circus in action at Westfield Shopping Mall

Motorcycle stunts, acrobats and bungee-ballet, oh my! Children and adults alike will get a kick out of the center ring show. Activities also include a free interactive pre-show that serves as a crash course of sorts for circus skills.

Join a clambake feast or a beer pong tournament

Calling all food and or beer enthusiasts: Rush Street has the entire Labor Day weekend covered. Friday night's seafood clambake celebration, Saturday and Sunday mornings' fun Red-Eye Brunch and Sunday night's kids eat free special is just the beginning. Monday will kick off a big beer pong tournament—happy eating and drinking.

See a free film directed by Alfred Hitchcock

Sometimes a spectacular summer feature doesn't have to cost a fortune. Enjoy a free showing of Alfred Hitchcock's Academy Award-winning film Rebecca, which stars Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and Judith Anderson.
