Ed Rosenthal to Speak about Desert Rescue

After six days lost in the desert and a hospital stay in Twentynine Palms, Calif., Culver City's Ed Rosenthal is ready to speak to the press.

Culver City's Ed Rosenthal is gearing up for a Los Angeles news conference Tuesday after his miraculous rescue from nearly six hot days without food or water in Joshua Tree National Park, according to spokesman Jack Skelley.

According to Skelley, he is "recuperating" after being released Saturday from Hi-Desert Medical Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Rosenthal, an experienced hiker, known poet and real estate broker, got lost in Joshua Tree after setting out on Sept. 24 for what was supposed to be a day hike. However, after a series of wrong turns and running out of food and water, he set up a blanket lean-to in an area near East Wide Canyon, according to wire reports.

He was found on Sept. 30 after being spotted by a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department helicopter.

During his time in the nearly 100-degree heat, he wrote notes to his wife on the inside of his hat, telling them how much he loved them, whom he wanted to be his pallbearers and other instructions in case he did not survive, according to wire reports.
