Culver City Green Space Plan Survey, Murder Mystery Fundraiser and City Council Candidate’s Forum

Also, Bill Wynn on becoming Culver City Democratic Club president, and Patch is looking for bloggers. Here are 5 things you should know for Tuesday, Feb. 7.

1. North East Trees, Ballona Creek Renaissance and Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Green Space Advisory Committee have teamed up to create the Culver City Green Space Plan. The plan aims to increase the value of Culver City Parks to a broader segment of the local community through passive recreation or wellness activities, while creating an urban environment that enhances personal and environmental health. You can read the overview in the PDF document to the right of this article then take the online survey here and let them know what types of activities you feel would improve Culver City parks and open spaces.

2. The Friends of the Culver City Youth Health Center is hosting its annual
major fundraiser on Saturday, March 10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. The evening will be a murder mystery night and the event will honor CCUSD Superintendent Patricia Jaffee. The event will include a silent and live auction, dinner, music and a no host bar. All proceeds go to the Culver City Youth Health Center located on the campus of Culver City Middle and High School.  Cost is $85 per person before March 10 and $95 at the door. 3. The Culver Crest Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a Culver City Council candidate’s forum ahead of the April 10 elections. The forum will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at El Rincon Elementary School, 11177 Overland Ave. Ron Ostrin will moderate the forum, and all are invited to hear the six candidates speak.

4. Bill Wynn has been sworn in as the new president of the Culver City Democratic Club. In his first message as president, Wynn said, “I humbly accept the vote of confidence of the Executive Board and the voting members of the Culver City Democratic Club to serve as the President of the Club during the 60th Anniversary, and also to be the first elected African-American president of the club.
