Councilmember O'Leary to Attend Expo Line Dedication Ceremony

Former Culver City Mayor Micheal O'Leary will join a host of elected public officials at noon today for the official dedication ceremony of the Expo Light Rail at Expo Park in downtown Los Angeles.

Former Culver City Mayor Micheal O’Leary is among the invited officials who will take part in the official dedication ceremony of the opening of the Expo Light Rail today.

O’Leary will board the Expo Light Rail train at the 7th Street Metro Center Station at noon alongside Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, LA County Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Mark Ridley-Thomas, Senator Curren Price, Assembly members Bonnie Lowenthal and Mike Davis, LA City Council President Herb Wesson, LA City Council members Bernard Parks and Jan Perry, Santa Monica Councilwoman Pam O’Connor, and Mike Peavey and Timothy Simon with the California Public Utilities Commission.

The officials will then take the train to the Expo USC station, where the official dedication of the rail will take place at 12:30 p.m.

According to a Metro press release, the train carrying the officials will break through a banner with confetti, and cannon fireworks special effects along with the USC Trojan Marching Band will announce the arrival of the new Metro Expo Line.

Following the ceremony, officials will then have the opportunity to ride the line to the La Cienega/Jefferson station and back downtown.

The 8.6-mile Metro Expo Line links downtown Los Angeles south to USC and west to La Cienega/Jefferson via Exposition Boulevard.
