Average Gas Price Once Again Over $4

Prices have been steadily climbing for the last month.

Gas prices rose to over $4 in Los Angeles County for the first time since Nov. 6.

Average prices increased to an average of $4.06 in L.A. County, up from $3.62 a month ago, but still below the highest recorded average price of $4.70 on Oct. 9, 2012, according to AAA.

In Culver City, the lowest price for regular gasoline as of Sunday was $3.95 at the Shell Station at 10646 Venice Blvd. according to Gas Buddy.

The Los Angeles County average price is the highest in the state and the only region where it is above $4. The lowest average price is $3.712 in Modesto.

The increasing prices are the result of high oil prices, Middle East tension, maintenance at refineries that reduces supplies and investors shifting their money into the gasoline market "earlier and earlier," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
