Armory Guard Case Heads to Court as Settlement Negotiations Fail

Three siblings are bringing a wrongful death suit against the state after their sister, JoAnn Crystal Harris, was beaten to death at the Culver City Armory Guard in 2007.

The trial in the case of JoAnn Harris, who was beaten to death at the Culver City Armory Guard in 2007, is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. this morning, after attorneys failed to reach a settlement out of court on Friday.

Geragos is representing Gerald Bennett, Suzette Bennett and Deborah Bennett in bringing a wrongful death suit against the state, after their sister, Sergeant JoAnn Harris, was beaten to death with a baseball bat while at the armory.

The case is being heard at the County Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.
