Culver City Schools Hold Giant Yard (Sign) Sale

Add some curb appeal to your home with a WE SUPPORT CULVER CITY SCHOOLS lawn sign by donating at least $100 to the Culver City Education Foundation's ALL FOR 1 fundraising campaign.

Culver City loves its lawn signs.  Whether it’s for a school board election or a state legislator, when election time comes, you can be sure to see lawn signs dotting the yards of Culver City homes.  Well, the Culver City Education Foundation is hoping that every Culver City resident adds some curbside appeal to their home with a “WE SUPPORT CULVER CITY SCHOOLS” lawn sign as well.

Last week, the Culver City Education Foundation kicked of its first annual ALL FOR 1 fundraising campaign.  The goal is to raise $1 million dollars to benefit all of the schools in the Culver City Unified School District.

Our suggested donation is $1 a day for 10 months (that’s $30 a month).  If that is too pricey for you, we will take whatever you can give.  However, to get a shiny new “WE SUPPORT CULVER CITY SCHOOLS” lawn sign in your yard, you need to donate at least $100 (or $10 a month).

It’s really easy to donate, too.  Just go the Culver City Education Foundation website at CCEF90230.org and click the “Give Now” button.  From there, just follow the instructions.

THE CUTS KEEP COMING

In case you haven’t heard, Sacramento still hasn’t found a way to balance its books, and if tax receipts don’t increase in a hurry, our schools will be asked to make mid-year cuts.  Funds raised from this campaign will go towards keeping critical “extras” in place.  Please see for a list of programs and resources that your money will protect.

CULVER CITY STUDENTS CONTINUE TO SHINE

Our teachers and kids are somehow getting it done while the budgets continue to shrink.  Almost every school improved on last year’s standardized tests:

CCUSD                       2010 API: 825            2011 API: 835            Growth: +10

El Marino                    2010 API: 917            2011 API: 931            Growth: +14

El Rincon                    2010 API: 838            2011 API: 832            Growth: -6

Farragut                     2010 API: 905            2011 API: 932            Growth: +27

La Ballona                  2010 API: 819            2011 API: 843            Growth: +24

Linwood E. Howe        2010 API: 797            2011 API: 826            Growth: +29

Culver Middle             2010 API: 829            2011 API: 829            Growth: 0

Culver High                2010 API: 804            2011 API: 812            Growth: +8

This has been the story, over and over, for the past several years.  However, one has to ask how much longer we can keep it up with our resources continuing to shrink.

So, please, join us in supporting Culver City schools by participating in this important fundraising campaign, and add some curb appeal with a new lawn sign.
