Yogurtland Debuts in Westchester

Mother-Daughter Team Opens Second Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Store

            (LOS ANGELES)---Yogurtland, the self-serve frozen yogurt pioneer with more than 260 locations worldwide, will debut in Westchester at 8752 S. Sepulveda Boulevard by February 1. At the helm are area residents Sharon Lee and her mother Ann Lee.

            “We’re thrilled to introduce Yogurtland to the wonderful community of Westchester,” said Lee, 30. “Yogurtland has built a loyal following throughout the greater L.A. area and we know the people of Westchester will fall in love with the variety of flavors and fun, colorful concept.”

            Yogurtland has transformed the yogurt industry by reshaping a popular trend into an empowering new definition of a treat experience – delivering ultimate customer control. Stores feature 16 flavors of self-serve frozen yogurt from a rotating menu of more than 50 selections that include both traditional favorites such as cookies and cream or other more exotic flavors like taro, green tea, maqui berry, yuzu, and guava pineapple.

Customers become the architect of their frozen yogurt creation by mixing and combining flavors and topping their yogurt with a choice of more than 35 selections that include fresh fruits, nuts, cereals, candy and much more. Price is determined by the total weight of the customer’s cup.

“We have in-house flavorologists that formulate all of our yogurt flavors,” Lee said. “The entire yogurt making process is under our control and all our flavors are unique to Yogurtland and made with real ingredients, which customers love.”

            Prior to teaming up with her mother to help run the family’s first Yogurtland store in Artesia, which they opened in 2008, Lee spent three years as an assistant vice president and client manager for Bank of America. Realizing she needed more foodservice experience to maintain success of her family’s frozen yogurt store, Lee went on to spend three years working as a manager for Hillstone Restaurant Group. It was in this position that she learned the intricacies of running a successful restaurant operation.

            “I’m young for a business owner, but I’ve put in my due diligence to really understand every facet of what it takes to run a successful restaurant business,” said Lee. “And I continue to learn: I’m currently working towards my MBA at UCLA in entrepreneurship, general management and marketing.”

            Lee has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, a trait passed down from her parents who have owned several businesses over the years. “As I was growing up, I watched my parents run many businesses and I’ve always been interested in one day owning my own. I now have the chance to really take the reins on this new store in Westchester.”
