Sprouts and Shutters: Norms, Truxton's, Kippy's, Urban Outfitters

Here's the latest roundup of retail, restaurant and other business news and happenings in L.A.'s Westside neighborhoods.

Sprouts:

Truxton's American Bistro, the ever popular Westchester restaurant, opened a second location in Santa Monica at the corner of 14th Street and Santa Monica Blvd. The new spot features the same massive menu as the original - think wide-ranging fare ala Cheesecake Factory with a little added flair/taste, including big salads, burgers, sandwiches, pizza and their signature Monkey Bread.

Urban Outfitters is scheduled to open a new store on Cross Creek Road in Malibu on Aug. 15. The fashion retailer will carry clothing and accessories for men and women, as well as home, music and lifestyle products. The store will also feature one of a kind pieces not available in other stores.

A new, non-dairy organic, coconut-based ice cream store Kippy's has opened in Venice. Flavors include vanilla cappuccino and strawberry coconut and one scoop will set you back $4.50.

A popular noodle shop from Little Tokyo, Daikokuya, has opened in West L.A., continuing the "ramen wars" on Sawtelle Avenue.

Blo Blow Dry Bar is scheduled to open in Beverly Hills. t bills itself as the "world’s largest blow dry bar chain," and is located at 252 South Beverly Drive. Blo offers popular services, including its signature "Blo on the Go" and "Blo Bridal" service. 

Raw food restaurant Simply Raw tentatively plans to open in early 2014 in Santa Monica, reports EaterLA. 

Wells Fargo has plans to open a branch at the renovated Trancas Country Market in Malibu later this summer.


Shutters:

The 24-hour food chain Norms closed its doors in Santa Monica for good July 17 with mixed opinions from the community. Mixed use housing and retail development will replace the 49-year-old restaurant at 1601 Lincoln Blvd.
