Poll: What Is Your Favorite Steve Jobs Invention?

The visionary whose technological imprints sit in many Culver City homes, businesses and schools died Wednesday after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Be sure to vote on your favorite piece of Apple technology below.

President Barack Obama lauded Steve Jobs as "among the greatest of American innovators" in a press release Wednesday, and such a statement can hardly be argued with. While Apple is now a household name, boasting shiny stores for eager techies, the media giant began as a small company founded in 1976 by Jobs and his high school friend Stephen Wozniak in a suburban California garage, reports the NY Times. The company, and Jobs as a businessman, grew to the prowess it is today—leaving 56-year-old Jobs at an estimated worth of $8.3 billion at the time of his death.

As I do my daily reporting around Culver City—on a MacBook no less, and interviews on my iPhone—it is obvious that Jobs' magic touch had a long-reaching impact. After all, it is not PC's that take up the outlets and WiFi at Culver City cafes, but MacBooks with the characteristic lit Apple that sit reverently next to a steaming cup of coffee.
