Karen Hansen’s much-anticipated Copenhagen Pastry officially opened its doors for business at 8 a.m. on Saturday at 11113 Washington Blvd.
Prior to the opening, Hansen wrote on her Facebook page:
It has been a little over a year, since we started the project, but it has been an amazing year. I'm thrilled that Henrik Gram has joined us to produce the most amazing Danish pastries. We will also have rye bread, and you can always call us at 310-839-8900 to pre-order.
In a written release, Hansen stated “Copenhagen Pastry is bringing the authentic taste of Denmark to Culver City. For centuries, the Danes have made delicious pastries, and we are proudly importing the tradition.”
, Hansen handed out free samples of her pastries. And on Monday morning, Hansen posted this note on her Facebook page following Saturday’s opening:
It has been an amazing weekend. We have had a lot of support from the neighborhood and the Danish community, which we really appreciate. We will always have samples ready, so you will have a chance to pick you favorite pastry. As a Dane that is difficult - I love them all. Thanks for your support.
One person who sampled Hansen’s fare over the weekend had this to say on Facebook:
so happy that this is in our neighborhood, we loved the poppy twists and shared the butter cake with visiting relatives, it was so delicious!
Hansen’s bakery is open Mon-Fri from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sat-Sun 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tel: 310-839-8900.
