Chef Evan Funke's Bucato Opening This Month in Culver City

The pasta lab will be housed in the Helms Bakery District.

Like many businesses opening date was pushed back over six months, but LA Weekly reports that Bucato is definitely set to open before the month of July is over.

The space used to be a laundry back in the 1930s and that’s why Funke says he wants to call the restaurant Bucato—the Italian word for laundry.

According to LA Weekly, Funke  has rebuilt the space on Helms Avenue by the Helms Bakery Car at 3280 Helms Ave. and have added patios (which will seat 115 people), and two fryers—one savory and one sweet—have been installed.

There is also a giant chandelier made from pasta rolling pins hanging from the 20-foot ceiling.

Funke told LA Weekly, “This isn't going to be Claim Jumper spaghetti and meatballs. We want to take the dining experience back where it was 50 years ago."
