Celebrity Chef, Gold Medalist Coming to Culver City Wednesday

Oprah's former chef Art Smith and Olympic Gold Medalist Janet Evans will hold a meet and greet at LYFE Kitchen in Culver City Wednesday.

Celebrity chef Art Smith, who once served as a personal chef for Oprah and cooked for the likes of President Barack Obama, will make an appearance Wednesday along with Olympic gold medalist Janet Evans at LYFE Kitchen in Culver City.

Smith will sign copies of his new Healthy Comfort cookbook at 7 p.m. and will be joined by Evans, who won four Olympic gold medals in swimming and is a LYFE Kitchen Ambassador.

In addition to cooking for multiple celebrities and heads of state, Smith has made his name known through regular appearances on the television shows Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, and Iron Chef America.

Smith also struggled with obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes before losing more than 100 pounds through diet change and exercise to get his health back on track. Organizers of Wednesday's event said that free food bites will be served, inspired by Smith's healthy recipes.

Wednesday's event begins at 7 p.m. at LYFE Kitchen, 9540 West Washington Boulevard, Culver City. The event is free and open to the public.
