Downtown Businesses to Offer Block Party Freebies

The Wednesday event will offer live entertainment, food and wine sampling, and store discounts.

Deals, giveaways and live performances to suit varied tastes will be on deck for the second Downtown Business Association summer block party on Wednesday. Thirty-two businesses will be participating, so check below to figure out where to go.

Restaurants and Bars

Akasha: Akasha will feature 1/2 off all wines by the bottle.

BottleRock: BottleRock will offer food, wine and beer specials for $4. Also, it will offer 20 wines for $20 per bottle (dine in only).

Coldstone Creamery: Coldstone will give away cookie sandwiches and low calorie fruit smoothies. Customers can also purchase two "like it" creations for $6.

Daphne's Greek Cafe: Daphne's will give away samples and coupons.

Ford's Filling Station: Ford's Filling Station will offer beef or lamb sliders and a draft beer for $10. Christopher Hawley and the Rollers will sing classic country on the patio.

Fraiche: Get a free glass of sangria at Fraiche at the bar.

Gyenari: At Gyenari, the happy hour stretches all evening long. It will charge $3 for well liquor, $2 for house and white wines, and $2 for draft beer. Appetizers will range from $4 to $7.

Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken: At Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken customers can request the Block Party Special and get 10 percent off all of their orders.

Kay and Dave's: Buy two margaritas at Kay and Dave's and margarita No. 3 is on the house.

K-Zo: At K-Zo, get a free glass of fruit-infused sake when you buy an entree.

LaRocco's Pizzeria: Get 10 percent off all food and drinks at LaRocco's when you dine in the restaurant.

Le Saint Amour: Get Kir Royale with your entrée at Le Saint Amour. There will be live Caribbean music on the patio.

Lunch: Get $2 beers and mini sandwiches at Lunch. And don't miss out on trivia night with prizes for the winners.

M Café: M Café's contribution to the block party includes complimentary organic wine tastings along with special tapas and appetizers on the patio. For customers eating in the restaurant, a food purchase of $10 or more will be paired with a free glass of organic wine.

Meet: Meet will serve all you can eat mussels for $19.95 with a selection of  sauces.

Novecento: Novecento will enhance customer meals for the block party by throwing in a free mixed baby green salad. In addition, customers can choose a glass of cabernet or chardonnay for $3.

Rush Street: Rush will feature a $21 prix fixe menu including soup or salad or mac n' cheese and an entrée and dessert. From 5 p.m. to closing, wine, beer and specialty drinks will be sampled upstairs. Rush will also offer free pole dancing lessons after 9:30 p.m.

The Culver Hotel: Be entertained at the Culver Hotel by live outdoor entertainment and get complimentary appetizers every hour on the hour. Happy hour prices will be extended until 8 p.m.

Ugo: At the Italian bar, enjoy samples of fresh fruit granita and 35 flavors of homemade gelato. At the café, enjoy seasonal Italian specials made from organic or locally grown ingredients when you purchase an entrée. At the wine bar, enjoy complimentary wine sampling while experts tell you about how it's made.

Stores

Lundeen's: The shop will be offering 10 percent off of everything as well as free mojitos and a raffle.

Dr. Heidi Fahringer: There will be a Gucci frame show with 10 percent off of everything in the store. The first 20 customers to arrive will receive a special.

NCL Timeless Treasures: A $1 clothing rack sale and a $3 book sale will make this upscale resale shop worth a second look during the block party.

GALLERIES

Gregg Fleishman Gallery: The Greg Fleishman gallery will remain open during the block party.

Haro Gallery: The Haro Gallery will be open during the block party and will feature wine and refreshments.

WWA Gallery: WWA will present a special viewing of its new group show, "Off the Strip," which features an artist's interpretation of Sunday comic strip characters getting naughty. WWA will also serve beer and wine.

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?
