UPDATE: Inert Grenades Close Streets Near Culver City

Police responded to the 4300 block of Purdue Avenue in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles near Culver City Thursday to investigate what turned out to be three inert grenades, according to LAPD Detective Gus Villanueva.

Villanueva said the three grenades were found in the backyard of a home along Purdue Avenue.

A bomb squad was not requested, police told City News Service. Several streets were closed in the area, including Washington Boulevard, near the Department of Motor Vehicles office.

According to LAPD Officer Diana Figueroa, the scene has since been cleared and all roads are back open again. Figueroa did not provide any further information or details on the incident.

Meanwhile, the man found with multiple explosive devices in his Palms residence near Culver City Wednesday was charged with seven felony counts and was due to be arraigned today.
