"Urinetown, the Musical" at CCHS March 10-12!

Urinetown, the Musical comes to Culver City High School March 10-12!

This musical comedy satirizes capitalism, social irresponsibility, and municipal politics, and corporate mismanagement in a parody style of great wit and humor.

Urinetown, the Musical was the winner of three Tony awards (Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical) and was nominated in six other categories.

Synopsis: “In an attempt to regulate water consumption, Urinetown has outlawed the use of private toilets. The citizenry must use public, pay-per-use amenities owned and operated by Urine Good Company, a malevolent corporation run by the corrupt Caldwell B. Cladwell.”

Artistic Director Sheila Silver blushes when she says, “For as important a work as The Laramie Project was for us last fall, Urinetown could not be more irreverent! We are having so much fun finding every nuance and joke to entertain our audiences.”

Silver is collaborating with Dr. Tony Spano (Music Director), Mark McCleese (Choreographer), and Joshua Hillinger (Assistant Director). Silver is especially excited about the partnership between CTG teaching artist, Sarah Kranin who taught a set design class last fall and has mentored AVPA theatre students in creating the set that will be built. “This is what AVPA is all about – integrating students from all departments to create this wonderful show!”
