Academy Goes Silent! 'The Artist' Wins Best Picture, Director, Actor

Meryl Streep wins third Oscar. Christopher Plummer wins and makes history.

Here are the winners of the 2012 Oscars of the 84th Academy Awards.

"The Artist" won Best Picture, director and actor, as well as original score and costume design. It is not only a mostly silent, black-and-white film, but was also filmed in Los Angeles, despite its mostly French backing.

"The Help" took Best Supporting Actress and Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" won five other Academy Awards—for cinematography, art direction, visual effects, sound editing and sound mixing.

Meryl Streep won her third Oscar for Best Actress for "The Iron Lady" and the film won for Best Make-up, too.

Christopher Plummer from "The Beginners" made history being the oldest actor, at 82, to ever win a statuette for Best Supporting Actor. "You're only two years older than me where have you been all my life?" he said to his Oscar at the podium.

Alas, didn't win for Best Actor for "The Descendants" nor did he win for writing "Ides of March." He seemed to shrug it all off.
