Walk ’n Rollers Free Bike Skills Workshop for Kids and Helmet Giveaways During Sunday's CicLAvia

The Culver City-based nonprofit will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Curson Avenue

Walk ‘n Rollers  - a Culver City-based nonprofit, will be hosting a free Kids Bike Skills Workshop at CicLAvia on Sun. June 23.

The workshop will be at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Curson Avenue from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is designed to teach essential bike handling and safety skills to children of all ages. 

Led by League of American Bicyclists certified League Cycling Instructors the workshop will teach important bicycle safety lessons to children, such as helmet fitting, recognizing and respecting traffic signals and stop signs and avoiding hazards. In addition, the children will test and improve their bike handling skills. All children are encouraged to participate, including those with training wheels, tricycles and scooters.

Helmet giveaways for participating children will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Free raffle tickets will be available for kids that ride the course.

Walk ‘n Rollers will also host a bike crafts table at the workshop. Children will be able to make their own race plates and spoke cards please create their own button.

The free skills workshop, helmet giveaways and craft area fits in perfectly with the mission of CicLAvia, said Walk ’n Rollers founder Jim Shanman. 

“CicLAvia is a great event that does a such a good job of encouraging people to experience Los Angeles in a new way," he said. "We want to be sure that everyone, kids especially, learn to do so safely and responsibly plus add some fun to make the whole day as enjoyable as possible.”
