Two Culver City Residents in Rose Parade

USA Dance Los Angeles County member Jerry Hernandez and Loyola Marymount University student Fernando Madrigal will ride atop floats in the Pasadena parade.

Culver City residents Jerry Hernandez and Fernando Madrigal have been chosen to participate in the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on Jan. 2.

Hernandez will perform with other members of USA Dance on the Kit-Cat float, while Madrigal will ride on Loyola Marymount University’s float commemorating LMU’s Centennial year.

Madrigal will graduate from LMU in 2013. He’s a veteran Marine and chief curator of LMU’s Archaeology Center.

Aside from being a member of the USA Dance Los Angeles County chapter, which holds regular dances at Culver City Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Hernandez is also in charge of the auditorium’s K-12 program and teaches ballroom dance to kids at Title I schools. Hernandez was recently voted Volunteer of the Year by the USA Dance Los Angeles County Chapter.
