Patch Picks: Summer Camps

Finding the right summer camp for your child can be a challenging task.

This summer camp serves children ages five to ten and runs from June 21 to August 27 in the Veterans Memorial Complex in Veteran’s Park. Culver City residents pay $130 per week. Activities include recreational activities and field trips to theme parks.

Star Summer Camps

This camp has been named a “Model Program” by the White House and United States Department of Education as well as voted Best Educational Day Camps by Parents by Los Angeles Family Magazine. It has three locations in Culver City with a wide range of activities including culinary arts, dance, music theater, skateboarding, science, art and even Legos. Average cost is $295 plus a $20 material fee per week and a $45 registration fee. Parents can save $20 per week if they register before Friday, March 11.

Culver City YMCA

Members pay $135 per week for grades K through five and $150 per week for grades six through nine. Activities include traditional recreational activities, talent shows, themed days and field trips.

The Study Institute

Summer camp runs from June 21 to August 27 at West Los Angeles College, for ages five through 14. Activities include traditioanl recreation, academic stimulation tutoring, and weekly field trips. Cost is $165 per week plus a $50 registration fee. Discounts are available for siblings.

The Actor’s Gang

The Actor’s Gang Summer Camp is perfect for pre-teenagers and teenagers for budding thespians. Through workshops given by teaching artists and professional actors, participants learn about their voice, costume, make-up, aand other elements of the craft. The camp offers two one-week sessions in The Ivy Substation. Call for rate information.
