Local Attractions, Restaurants Offer Deals

From birthday parties to weekend brunch, businesses spotlight family-friendly choices.

A Culver Ice Arena Birthday Party for $126

In addition to celebrating the holidays, little ones (including mine) are looking forward to birthdays in the next few weeks. While there are lots of options for candle-lighting fun, Culver Ice Arena offers two party packages for little skaters. For $126, parents can reserve a “Small Room Package” that serves 12 skaters (and holds 20 people total). Figure skate rental is included, as well as admission to public skate time. For $199.50, mom and dad can purchase the “Large Room Package,” which serves 19 skaters and holds up to 40 people total. Each room is reserved for one hour.

Kid-Friendly Weekend Lunch at A-Frame

The restaurant on Washington Boulevard has been getting a lot of attention in the foodie press. While the eatery doesn’t have a kids’ menu per se, they assure customers that its offerings are kid-friendly. Take the $9 breakfast plate, which includes fried eggs, bacon and sweet potato hash. There are also ice-cream sandwiches on the menu at $6 a pop for little (and big) folk with a sweet tooth (A-Frame also has high chairs upon request).

$4.95 Rutt’s Hawaiian Café Lunch Bowl

If the kiddos are tired of leftover turkey and stuffing, Rutt’s Hawaiian Café has creative menu items that won’t have debit cards quaking in financial fear. Moms, dads and kiddos can order lunch bowls, which start at $4.95. The chili bowl is made with homemade chili, while the Hawaiian bowl includes Portuguese sausage and Chinese BBQ pork. There are also Spam and veggie options.

Free “Jeopardy!” Tickets

For families looking for cost-free entertainment on a weekday, they can order tickets online to game shows such as “Jeopardy!” or “Wheel of Fortune,” both of which tape episodes at Culver City’s Sony Studios. Just be sure to read the fine print about where and when to arrive before the show starts.

Buy One, Get 75 Percent off Second Item at Old Navy

You might have noticed a big change at the Westfield Culver City mall. Old Navy has moved to the other side, right across from Target. This week, they’re offering a big sale; when customers buy one item, they can purchase a second item for 75 percent off the regular price. Keep in mind, though, that this excludes clearance items.
