Stone Candles Lights Up Culver City

A gray and unassuming storefront on Washington hides a wonderland for fans of pillars and tapers.

When Daniel Stone created Stone Candles right out of college, he was inspired by his father, who had run a candle shop in the '90s. Now dad assists with various aspects of his son's business.

This Culver City store is more like a warehouse with all the candles made on site. Visitors are greeted with a delightful aroma of fresh candles upon entering the store. Stone's offerings include Coconut Body Candles, which have wax you can also use as body oil.

Pillar sizes range from 3 inches to 3 feet tall, and many of Stone's candles—in particular the Lit series—are used in high-end hotels and restaurants across the U.S. You can purchase items in store or have them shipped to you. Stone Candles also offers custom orders, such as for weddings, and private label candles.

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

As I understand it, fracking wells "dry up" fairly quickly, which is why pressure to keepRead More drilling so urgent. Where do the jobs go after a year or so? Just a thought....
