"Jump into Summer" — YMCA Healthy Kids Day!

Bring the kids and join us at our Annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29, from 1 to 4pm, in Center Court (in front of Macy's) at Westfield Culver City. Healthy Kids Day is a FREE community event to help families discover the joy in active play and educational activities that lead to improved health and well being.

Healthy Kids Day grew out of the YMCA’s passion to strengthen community through healthy living. For more than 20 years Healthy Kids Day has celebrated active play and healthy habits and has become the largest health day for kids and families in America.

Our Healthy Kids Day theme is “Jump into Summer.” Research shows that kids are less active and engaged in learning during the summer months. At Healthy Kids Day, we hope that kids and parents experience the thrill of healthy living and discover that opportunities to grow physically and mentally continue to be available throughout the summer.

Enjoy the same activities each day at our two-day Healthy Kids Day Celebration:  a 25-foot rock climbing wall; garden planting—how to grow plants that keep you healthy; high-five for summer health, creating a large mural by applying colors made from different vegetables; shooting baskets; a scavenger hunt in which kids perform a physical exercise at each location; a podiatry clinic staffed by podiatrists of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society who will scan kids’ feet and offer tips about getting the right shoe; a children’s dentist; kids Zumba, Line Dance, and other activities at the main stage; prizes, healthy snacks and a lot more.

Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

As I understand it, fracking wells "dry up" fairly quickly, which is why pressure to keepRead More drilling so urgent. Where do the jobs go after a year or so? Just a thought....
