Documentary Conference Comes to Culver City

Early registration has begun for the West Coast Documentary and Reality Conference.

The West Coast Documentary and Reality Conference, or WESTDOC, is scheduled to be held this year in Culver City for the first time.

Early registration is available now for the annual conference which allows those involved in documentaries and reality programming to have access to network executives. It is an ideal opportunity for filmmakers, said Chuck Braverman, WESTDOC's co-founder.

"It's a great place to meet and find out what network people are looking for if you're a filmmaker," Braverman said.

With scheduled parties, screenings, meetings, and an all-day "Pitchfest," there will also be ample opportunities to network with other filmmakers, Braverman said.

This year's tagline is “An Industry Is Being Reborn." For the past two years, WESTDOC has been held in Santa Monica. However, Braverman said while he liked the Santa Monica location, he is happy about what Culver City has to offer.

"We were looking for a bigger, better venue where people could walk around," he said. " This is more of a walking city."

Braverman, whose office is also in Culver City, said he expects 500 people to  attend this year's conference. The early, discounted registration will last from now through April 30 at a rate of $395. The conference is scheduled to take place September 9-12 at the and the nearby Pacific Culver Stadium 12.
