Concerned About Fracking? Meeting Tonight in Culver City

Residents concerned with plans for hydraulic fracturing, aka fracking, are invited to attend an educational event and preparation meeting at 10708 Northgate St., Culver City, tonight (May 31) from 7-9 p.m.

The evening is designed to help prepare for the June 12 meeting by the State Department of Conservation on fracking regulations, which will be held at Culver City City Hall.

Dr. Suzanne DeBenedittis will host tonight’s meeting. Dr. DeBenedittis issued a release asking the following questions:

Did you know?

• Hydraulic Fracturing is triggering earthquakes?
• There is an active 7.4 quake line nearby?
• Whether/where to evacuate if drilling triggers a toxic event? Or how to shelter-in-place? 
• Neither the City nor property owners are indemnified from personal costs to our health, safety and property damages that may result from horizontal drilling and oil extraction in areas near and under our homes?
