CityTypes: The Street Painter

Culver City's summer Wednesday event allows artist Julio Jimenez to showcase his talent.

Julio Jimenez has been street painting since 2005 and is currently using the roads of downtown Culver City as his canvas, drawing on the sidewalk as part of the monthly Third Wednesdays summer block party.

Jimenez graduated from the Art Institute of California-Los Angeles as a media arts and animation major. Computer software programs taught him to preplan or "make the blueprints" for his street paintings.

This summer, he chose to honor the "Heart of Screenland" with his monthly street paintings, using images from popular movies as his inspiration. Jimenez is also known for his depictions of classic automobiles.
