CityTypes: The Collage Artist

Jaime Becker works in collage and mixed media to create recycled art.

Jaime Becker is one creative soul. However, she is a bit of an environmentalist as well. Working out of Subspace Art gallery in Culver City, Becker creates and displays collage and mixed media art using recycled products and garbage.

Her original creations include "Avoidance," a cityscape collage. Becker made it on wood she found on a roadside, discarded magazines and packaging material. Becker stacked layers upon layers—which include discarded toothpaste boxes—to create a three-dimensional effect.

Visit Jaime Becker's work by appointment at Subspace Art gallery, 3855 Hughes Ave. You can also contact Jaime through her website.
