Ex-Security Guard at Apartment Complex Charged with Murder

Prosecutors accuse Byron Keith Street of killing his supervisor.

A former security guard at a Marina Del Rey apartment complex was charged today with murdering his supervisor.

Byron Keith Street is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in connection with the shooting death of Patrick Odoikyene, 47, who was found shot to death Dec. 30 outside the upscale Shores apartment complex in the 4200 block of Via Marina.

The murder charge includes the special circumstance allegation that Odoikyene was murdered during the course of a burglary, along with an allegation that Street personally and intentionally discharged a handgun during the crime.

Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against the 47-year-old Inglewood resident, who was arrested on Dec. 31.

Street had previously been suspended by Odoikyene, his immediate supervisor, for bringing his girlfriend to work, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Street and his girlfriend, Ann Una Bailey, 23, of Inglewood, were charged Jan. 3 with five counts of theft and one count of false personation. Street was also charged with one count of counterfeit seal.

An amended complaint -- filed today -- charges Street with one count each of murder and first-degree residential burglary and three counts of vandalism with more than $400 damage.
