Wright Middle School STEAM Magnet students are entering their first float entry in the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce's 14th Annual Fourth of July Parade, “Love My America!” The parade gathers more than 5,000 spectators from throughout the City of Los Angeles.

The students, mostly seventh graders, have designed an original science-themed float “STEAM” in the form of a beaker with steam, fireworks and pinwheels. The students will wear science costumes on the day of the parade, which will take place on Friday, July 4, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade will move along Loyola Boulevard from Westchester Park to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

The float – the school’s first-ever parade entry – is one of fifty entries accepted this year representing what America means to the community. Wright Middle School STEAM Magnet students will share their vision of what America means to them. A panel of judges will select top winners in three categories an hour before the parade.
