Leaf Blowers

Ok, so how do we get these things banned in CC?  Obnoxious and dirty.

I LOVE to watch gardners, including those contracted by the city, blow debris into the street.  Like where do they think this stuff is going to go?  Yep, all over your car, into your windows, and then back up onto the sidewalk.

Watched and shook my head as a "crew" (private) was "cleaning" the traffic island at Jefferson and Sepulveda this past week.  Cars stopped at the light as Mr. Leaf Blower" was just blowing crap all over the cars stopped and into the street.  Huge cloud of dirt just blowing into the intersection.  Funniest part... the opperator of the blower was wearing a mask, I guess he didn't want to breath that stuff in.  Had I been stopped at that light, I'd be contacting the city to have then pay for a car wash.

When the gardener accross the street shows up, I have to close all  my street facing windows as he blows dust, dirt, and all the rest into the street, huge cloud wafting into the air.

I'm tempted to buy a leaf blower myself, stand in-front of my home and blow it all back at him.

How to we outlaw these things in the city?

Gas leaf blowers are illegal. They have been illegal in Los Angeles for more than 50 years. Report them by calling 311 or http://lacity.org/CitywideServices/ServiceDetail/index.htm?laServiceId=3321&laCategory=180

Yes, but this is CC, does it apply here too? If so, EVERY gardener and even the City is violating this law.

Nope, looks like they are legal here: Culver City Municipal Code 9.04.020(L) states that leaf blowers are prohibited between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
