The Sierra Club Endorses Meghan Sahli-Wells and Jim Clarke

The club says voting for the Culver City Council candidates is a step in the right direction.

The Sierra Club has announced it will endorse Meghan Sahli-Wells and Jim Clarke in next month's Culver City Council elections.

The Sierra Club found both candidates worthy of the endorsement, according to Mary Ann Webster, West Los Angeles Conservation Chair of the Sierra Club.

"Culver City is starting to go in the right direction, but it can do better," said Webster on behalf of the organization. "Clearly, Clarke and Sahli-Wells are the most responsive to the environmental and quality-of-life issues in Culver City. They will bring much needed new perspectives and new voices to our City Council and merit the support of the Sierra Club and of Culver City voters."

City Council candidate Meghan Sahli-Wells said she is "proud" to have the endorsement of such a well-known organization.

"That's a pretty big deal to me, and it's a great organization," Sahli-Wells said. "I think a lot of things I'm doing point toward the environment, and making sure we're leaving a healthy environment for our children and their children."

City Council candidate Jim Clarke said he also views the endorsement as an honor.

"I have always been a strong environmentalist, and I'm sure my support growing Culver City's position as a sustainable city, expanding bike paths, encouraging vehicle trip reduction, and supporting and rewarding sustainable development all contributed to the Sierra Club's decision to endorse my candidacy," Clarke said. "I look forward to continuing to work with the Sierra Club as a Culver City Council member."

Clarke and Sahli-Wells are two of six individuals running for four open seats on the Culver City Council in the April 10 elections.
